One of they key qualities of yoga is rootedness
To me that means more than feeling grounded in a posture, it means being a part of the community. It may be our neighborhood or the whole world depending on the frame of reference. The photo above, dating from 1914, shows the anchor of my beloved Capitol Hill neighborhood, Eastern Market. More than a market, it has been a local institution in Washington DC as the oldest continuously operating market in the city, built in 1873. The indoor food market is open Tuesday-Sunday. On the weekends, outdoor market features local farmers and arts & crafts vendors. Here I give a shout out to friends met at Eastern Market over the years. Take my Saturday morning community yoga class at Lincoln Park (weather permitting) and then come to Eastern Market for snacking and shopping!
